4 objects Geuzenmaand Exhibition 2022

The First World War saw the development of many new weapons and an unprecedented amount of damage.
At the same time, popular resistance and revolution brought down the existing political system and changed the world situation.
During the war, a global pandemic of the H1N1 subtype of influenza,
commonly known as the Spanish flu, caused further damage in 2018-2020.
Almost 100 years later, in 2020, the global devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the threat of nature,
which no amount of technological development can address.
In this work, the four major weapons developed in WW1 will be used to construct the space.
The gas mask case will be decorated with artificial lily of the valley flowers.
This is a metaphor for the language of flowers, "return of happiness",
and for the "tears of the Virgin Mary", said to have been shed for the crucified Christ.
